Product Description
You can count on Rick Steves to tell you what you really need to know when traveling in Spain.
In this guide, you’ll find an inviting mix of exciting cities and cozy towns. Explore the lively cities of Madrid, Barcelona, and Sevilla, and follow the Route of the White Hill Towns in Andalucía’s sun-drenched countryside. Experience the works of the great masters from El Greco to Picasso to Dalí and learn how to avoid the lines at the most popular museums. Self-guided walks lead you through the castles, cathedrals, and villages of this ancient but modern land. End your day with a glass of Rioja wine and a plate of tapas then join the locals for an evening of flamenco.
Rick’s candid, humorous advice will guide you to good-value hotels and restaurants. He’ll help you plan where to go and what to see, depending on the length of your trip. You’ll get up-to-date recommendations about what is worth your time and money. More than just reviews and directions, a Rick Steves guidebook is a tour guide in your pocket.

Maybe we expect too much from Rick...but come on June 23, 2010 E. Langley (New York, NY USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I can only speak from personal experience but our dissappointment with this book had 3 factors. 1) None of the words we tried to look up in the included dictionary were in there. 2) The one time we followed a dining recommendation (in Barcelona) it turned out to be THE WORST RESTAURANT EVER. La Rita. If anyone ever tells you to go to this restaurant, RUN in the opposite direction. Unless, of course, you like microwaved dog food and rude service. 3) It simply did not provide us with any useful information that could not be found anywhere else. You could buy any run of the mill Spain guide and get the same results. Overall, this book was not useful to start and dissappointing when used to finish. My advice is to rely on recommendations of friends/family who have been there before and do your own resarch.

Great book, a must-have for a trip to Spain. You can't go wrong with Rick Steeves.
Invaluable travel guide to Spain April 8, 2010 Mary Ann Brandt (Littleton, MA United States) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I had never used Rick Steve's guides before our recent 3 week trip to Spain. I will always use his guides from now on. They are clear, detailed, and invaluable. It was like having an experienced Spaniard guide us through subways, museum entrances, tourist sights, local tapas bars, and a myriad of other potentially confusing moments in a new and as yet unexplored country. I recommend them highly.
Bill's comments January 26, 2010 William M. Kinsey (Las Cruces, NM) Excellant advice. No too complicated but hits the high spots. Tells you why you should see or do something. Good uncomplicated maps.
Wonderfully concise and accurate guide to Spain November 30, 2009 Patvid 17 out of 19 found this review helpful
Highly recommended. I used the Rick Steves guide for a recent trip to Spain and found it invaluable. It is clearly written, entertaining, concise, and up-to-date. When I tried using a second travel guide in Barcelona, although it had more restaurants and hotels listed, I found the information was not as complete or as current. The Rick Steves guide is particularly useful if you have one to three weeks to visit Spain and need to be selective about where to visit due to time constraints. This book does not include every single place in Spain. Instead, it covers what Rick Steves considers to be the highlights. I found that very helpful in planning the trip. If you plan to spend six weeks in this country, or need a comprehensive guide to every single area in Spain, you may want to use Amazon to "look inside" the book to see if it meets your needs. Personally, I'm very glad I took this Rick Steves guide with me to Spain.
