5 out of 5 stars All you want to know in a nutshell   December 12, 2008
Kaputabo (Los Angeles)
If you are looking for a traveller guide which will guide you to the not to be missed locations in this world then this is the one for you. The photos are awesome and the description of each location, although only one page long is sufficient to give you a good idea about what to expect. There is also a small section on tips which really give you some out of the way ideas to do at each location. All in all I highly recommend this book.

4 out of 5 stars Great Travel Book, Average+ Photo Book   November 19, 2008

This book generally fulfilled my expectations as a travel book. It gives a great number of amazing destinations with enough info to allow you search further. I also liked the idea of splitting the trips by means of travel (boat, plane, train, car, 2-legs, 4-legs, etc).

On the other hand, as an amateur photographer/photo enthusiast and an overall National Geographic fun, I found the photos as well as the printing quality of the book not of the best quality, or at least not of the quality that NG normally provide in their photo books.

Overall, a great publication that I would recommend!

Check out also "Where To Go When" (Eyewitness Travel Guides) - DK Publishing. Highly recommended, great travel book, great photo book too!!!

5 out of 5 stars Great Birthday/Christmas Present   November 17, 2008

I bought this book for my dad for his birthday. He is semi-retired and has been bitten by the travel bug. It is a beautiful book and well priced. He loves it.

3 out of 5 stars Not the best of its kind   July 15, 2008

I was hoping for something along the lines of A Year of Adventures: Lonely Planet's Guide to Where, What And When to Do It but I didn't like this as much. It's divided up into chapters for different modes of travel, which means (for example) that there's a whole section on train trips. That's not really my thing.

When I buy travel books, I want to learn about places I'd never heard of before. That's getting tougher, 'cause I've heard of all kinds of places - did you know we have a whole state called "Delaware"? - but there are still a few out there. Most of them aren't in this book.

Get "A Year of Adventures" instead.

This book was purchased as a gift for someone who travels around the world. I was not disappointed! The quality of the book is great! The pictures are beautiful. There were so many different suggestions of places to travel. I was very satisfied!
