4 out of 5 stars happymommy   March 10, 2010

I purchased these for our upcoming vacation and lucky me, my jeep liberty has the ability to shut the car off and the dvd players keep playing. Only annoyance is the second player picture goes out when the car is started back up, but all have to do is turn it off and back on and it's good to go. The cord is long enough to reach the power outlet in the cargo area of the car and I love that they strap right to the had rest, theres no bulky bag they hang in or have to sit on the center console or in the children's lap. I'm satisfied.

5 out of 5 stars Quite surprised.   March 8, 2010

Been looking for a portable DVD player that wouldn't break the bank and would look appealing and after some deliberation decided this was the model I wanted.

It was meant to be used on our long car trips, something to entertain 3 little kids on a 2,000 mile trip and I'm happy to report it didn't disappoint.

The DVD player was a super easy to setup (although I installed it on the rear seats of a Mazda5 for which I bought a 12DCV cable extender for the power). And once setup it took but 5 minutes to instruct a 5 yr old how to operate it, play, stop, turn it on/off and change disks.

I set its brightness and sound to medium in both screens and it performed gracefully through the trip. As far as I know the DVDs never skipped playing when hitting a pot hole or the likes. Pausing the DVD for a long period of time brings out a screensaver, and if you stop it it will resume from the last viewed point.

I wished the AV cable that connects both screens was 2 feet longer for easier management. And that you could restart the movie from where you left off even after shutting off the engine, although I understand I wouldn't because this model doesn't have a built in battery.

After trying it a few times before the trip, then during a 2,000 mile trip to Disney World, and again a couple of times after that, I can't but recommend it enough.

It looks great. It performs great. Happy customer here.

Product was great .. 4 kids, 1600 miles and no problems. The 2nd screen did go black at one point but was easily reset. Would recommend this product to anyone.

4 out of 5 stars It's okay if you don't need an internal battery   February 12, 2010

I only owned this product for a few days but decided to return it after I realized it didn't have a battery so it can't be taken on a plane or anywhere else unless it is plugged in to the wall or an outlet. This also means that when the car shuts off for any reason, the player shuts off as well and the movie starts from scratch so you have to reach back and fast forward to the right scene unless you have older kids. This is also harder without a remote and this one doesn't come with a remote. Major disappointment. The box said, "Battery life varies" so I assumed it had a battery. Also, the big box salesperson said it did. Never trust big box salespeople. 9 out of 10 they have no idea. Nope, it doesn't have a battery so it isn't very portable for a "portable DVD player," lol. All that said, picture and sound were pretty darn good on both screens and it seemed somewhat durable actually. Some don't like the tablet style DVD players but I do. One big plus for this unit IMHO is the way it attaches to the headrest. I love the way these specific DVD players attach to the headrest of the car. Very clean, easy, and flexible. A lot like attaching a flat screen to a wall in your house with a little arm that can be moved up and down for better viewing depending on the height of the child. Another dislike is with the two screens, there were WAY too many cables running around the car for my comfort. Get two screens ONLY if you need them. I didn't really. If the main player had an internal battery I would have kept it. Not bad but for the no battery issue. If you ONLY plan on using this in the car and don't mind it shutting off when the car is off (like at a gas station or a quick pit stop) then go for it.
