great product! March 2, 2010 W. Muszynski This product works very well, and keeps my toddler quiet and content when we travel. It's been a lifesaver!
Philips PET702 Portable DVD Player February 27, 2010 Randolph Bulpin (Greensboro, VT) My son saved his hard earned pocket money for this portable DVD player from Philips. I did significant product comparison including the updated model and decided for the money which was just over $62.00 with shipping and chargers this was a good buy. We've had it for over a month, taken it on ski trips in the car and it works great...image quality, sound all fine, my son is a happy viewer!
Died after 1 month November 20, 2009 Heather Robey (San Diego) This DVD player started out pretty nice, but stopped working after a month. Very disappointed I wasted my money. I'm trying to get warranty repair on the player, but it isn't easy.
Missing some features October 1, 2009 Libby 23 (Iowa City, IA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This is perfect for my kids while traveling. They also use it if they want to watch a movie quietly at home by themselves. It is easy enough for kids to understand and use the buttons. Problems we don't like: Unlike most DVD players, when you hit stop the movie stays where you left off. This one does not do that. 100% of the time it goes back to the beginning and we have to go to Scenes and find where we left off. Second issue: there is no way to see how far into the movie you are/how much is left. For the price and the hard use by kids maybe all that is ok, but we'll be upgrading next time for better features.
Good for little kids! September 20, 2009 C. Genberg (Los Angeles, CA USA) We bought this to use with our 20-month old on cross-country flights. The picture quality is really outstanding and the audio quality is also good. It does not get very loud with the headphone jack but that helps protects a small child's ears in the event they get to the volume control. The speakers are quite loud and clear (certainly for a flight where you can't blast the volume anyways).
The only negative is the basic form factor. Without the reversing screen, the controls are on the top front and can be within reach of a child as they play with it. All in all a small issue and we are very happy with it.
It also seems quite durable although we have not truly tested it with anything worse than our child hammering it with her fist.
