Oh well, it outlasted the last one (a diff manufacturer), but.... October 21, 2009 James C. Nance, Jr. ..I guess I'm just going to have to accept the planned obsolescence of all DVD (and CD) players that I purchase. I look for the best price of course, and if I get a couple of years out of one before the battery, power pack and/or player quits working then I'll assume I got my money's worth and buy another. (If I can afford it-Unfortunately I can't)
I call it planned obsolescence simply because the company doesn't want to sell replacement batteries or power packs, and they certainly don't last long enough.
And, even if they offered affordable replacements they would probably outlast the DVD drive motor. (Mine is getting sluggish on start up now and that's the warning that it will soon spin its last revolution)
None of my drive motors from any manufacturer have made it to the three year mark when used regularly. I was really pleased and had high hopes for this MUSTEK MP72 player, and, I'd have paid what they asked for one that would last as long as my other consumer electronics, or the company would stand behind it if it didn't.
Portable DVD player April 5, 2008 Gilbert Reed (Normal, IL USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
It will entertain the kids in the back seat, and you can also take it into the hotel room to play back movies on the hotel TV. It plays DVDs, VCDs, and to my surprise, SVCDs. Super Video CDs are a higher quality VCD, burned onto a regular CD, that have near DVD quality. It comes with all the cables for hook up to a regular TV, as well as a 12V auto cord, wall charger/110V adapter, earbuds, and the remote. Don't lose the remote. Without it you can't do anything except play and stop. BTW, you can make your own SVCDs from your digital camera home movies. You need NERO with the MPEG plug, a CD burner, and ordinary cheap CDRs.
Pansonic SC-EN25 CD Micro System February 14, 2008 Gweneth G. Gordon (Los Lunas, NM USA) The product was really good and I am enjoying hearing CDs on the system. It was well worth my money.
Plays divx, mp4, vcd, svcd January 6, 2008 S. Kumar (AR, USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
One of the few players that can play a varity of formats.
Plays divx, mp4, avi, mpeg1,2, vcd, svcd besides dvd mp3 etc.
Bought one new for $50 after MIR and was impressed by the fact that it can play most video formats. Not the best looking or solid player out there but cant beat the features and price.
