The lithium-ion battery provides 2.5 hours of battery life, and it can be fully recharged in 4 hours. The 6.5-inch screen has a 1440 x 234-pixel resolution, and it down-samples the 500 lines of DVD resolution to 350. In addition to DVD movie and CD audio discs, it's also compatible with CD-R/RW, DVD-R/RW, DVD+R/RW, and (S)VCD discs as well as MP3 digital audio files. Ok, one star missing. This is a nice little DVD player to relax with. Go kick back on the couch, put the player on your lap and enjoy your favorite DVDs, in your own private theater. But you will need a tiny bit of help. The sound isn't very good, so I suggest buying this player with a set of noise cancelling headphones (Sony MDR-NC6 was a good choice for me, just make sure you have plenty of AAA batteries around!).
I really do like this little DVD unit, the acid test will be when I have to rely on battery power during the frequent electricity outages that are pretty common here. For now, I am very pleased with this product & I use it frequently.

I bought this DVD as a gift for someone in Europe.
It worked fine for almost a month now (and it's been used a lot). Plus it played European DVDs.
Very impressed.

received without a power supply or car adaptor, therefor the dvd player is completely unusable. no idea if it even works.

I bought this because there was a considerable discount included, but I really feel like I got more than my money's worth. Works great, right from the start. No problems or hitches at all. The picture is good, the sound is ok too, and I like that I can connect it to a TV to use as my regular DVD player. I haven't had any issues with it and I love that I can take it with me. Oh, and the battery charges very quickly too! It's great!

I bought this DVD player when I arrived in the USA from the UK for my 3 mth long summer work experience at the start of the summer. And Yes it still works.
I never heard of ASTAR but to be perfectly honest I was not bothered by the make more on the price.
I recently decided to try my region 2 and guess what IT worked yippeee.
Overall The sound is a little weak and even though it has a wide screen 16:9 movies still produce black bars at the top and bottom but apart from that ITS FANSTASTIC for the price its kept me happy on my days off. Pefect for taking to college.
